KW Awesome Foundation helps make awesome local projects happen. Every other month, we give a $1,500 grant to an idea, project, or cause that can make a positive difference in Kitchener-Waterloo or a nearby community.

The next Pitch Night begins at 7:00 p.m. on December 1, 2026, at TWB Brewing.
Application deadline: November 24, 2026.

Selected applicants will be invited to make a short pitch to the Trustees.

Make something awesome happen

We all have ideas for things we would love to see happen. They might be community-building, joyful, creative, practical, surprising, or flat-out crazy-genius. With a little help, you could make one of those ideas real.

KW Awesome Foundation is the Kitchener-Waterloo chapter of The Awesome Foundation. We give out $1,500 every other month, with no strings attached, to help a great local project get moving.

How it works

1. Apply

Tell us about your project, who it will help, and how you would use the $1,500.

2. Pitch

Selected applicants are invited to Pitch Night. Each applicant has five minutes to make their case, followed by a short Q&A with the Trustees.

3. Get awesome

The Trustees choose a winner at Pitch Night. The winning project receives $1,500 with no strings attached.

What kinds of projects are eligible?

We are interested in projects that are community-focused, have a positive impact, and often solve a problem in a creative way. Past recipients have included community organizations, environmental advocates, cycling projects, dance parties, racialized groups, women’s groups, youth groups, theatre productions, arts collectives, mutual-aid projects, and many more.

Projects should serve people in Kitchener-Waterloo or a nearby eligible community such as Cambridge, St. Jacobs, or Ayr.

KW Awesome Foundation is run and funded by volunteer Trustees. Trustees help review applications, attend Pitch Nights, contribute grant money, and connect projects with people who can help.
